Maria Koebsch grew up in East Berlin where she attended music school from an early age. In 1997, she moved to Freiburg to pursue a degree in music and mathematics.
In 2000 she won a scholarship for the State Academy of Music Odessa (Ukraine) where she focused on classical voice training, flute and choir conducting, especially of Eastern European repertoire. With different choirs and solo ensembles, she took part in numerous performances across Europe and South America.
Maria worked as a High School Teacher in Berlin and Stuttgart before moving to Vancouver with her husband and two boys. Here she sang with Choralation, Pacifica Singers and Vancouver Chamber Choir at several Conductor’s Symposiums. With the Instrumentalkreis she performs at select services at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church where she took the role as choir director in 2022.
