You are the salt of the earth, you are the light of the world – the Gospel of the 8th Sunday after Trinity comes from the Sermon on the Mount. The epistle concretizes the promise: “The fruit of the light is pure goodness and righteousness and truth”. Without God’s grace, we would not be able to live up to this. His love precedes every claim.
