Behold, we go up to Jerusalem: on the Sunday before Passiontide, the theme is determined by Jesus’ announcement of suffering and his call to discipleship. Both are embedded in the Song of Songs from 1 Corinthians. The suffering of Jesus is a suffering out of love.
