Wade Marlow

Pastor Wade Marlow arrived in 1979 from Faith Lutheran Seminary in Tacoma, Washington, to serve his vicarage at St. Mark’s Vancouver. He followed Stephen Schubkegel, who had served the congregation as vicar from 1978–1979.

For the young seminarian, it was a formative experience to be part of such a vibrant German-Canadian congregation.

During his time, Wade Marlow assisted Pastor Erhard Schneider especially in youth and confirmation ministry. Camps and retreats were highlights of his work, and his open and approachable manner helped him connect with young people while building bridges between the German-speaking tradition of the congregation and the English-speaking context around it.

After completing his vicarage, Wade Marlow moved on to finish his studies and continue in pastoral ministry elsewhere. Although details of his later career are not yet known, he is remembered at St. Mark’s as one of the young vicars who contributed to the congregation’s bilingual foundation and outreach.
